Finding the right solution

Our Approach
When patients enter our facility, they are greeted by a friendly staff member who will ask them to fill out a basic information form. Before our hearing instrument specialist meets with them, he or she will review the information carefully. Our highly trained hearing professionals will then conduct a thorough exam, specifically designed to accomplish two goals: First, they are assessing each patient’s hearing loss, ruling out certain treatable medical conditions that would require referrals. At the same time, they are getting to know them on a personal level – their jobs, families, hobbies and interests. Learning as much as possible about our patients is important to us since every incidence of hearing loss – and every patient’s needs – are different. We develop tailored solutions for each individual.

Real-life Simulation
One of the most common complaints among hearing-aid users is that, while their hearing aid works well in some situations, it doesn't always function properly in others. Through E.A.R.'s simulation technology, we test each patient with their new device in real-life settings, such as the dinner table, restaurants, driving and religious services. This allows us to make the appropriate adjustments based on each patient's individual needs and ensure that they are comfortable hearing in their everyday settings.

We also invite our patients' loved ones to participate in our real-life simulation. We understand that hearing loss can deeply affect people's relationships with their families, friends and co-workers. Through this technology, loved ones can experience - first-hand - what it feels like to suffer from hearing loss.

Finding the Right Solution
Unlike visiting an optometrist for new glasses and walking away with 20/20 vision, correcting hearing loss is a more complex and personal process. The brain needs time to gradually adjust to hearing sound again. At E.A.R., we stay in touch with our patients, to provide them with the ongoing support and tools they need to make a smooth, easy transition.

Our hearing professionals set aside time to:

    • Get to know you and your unique needs
    • Help you realize the impact your hearing loss is having on you
    • Identify and help you overcome obstacles that may have kept you from treating your hearing loss
    • Identify and help you prevent hearing loss or minimize further loss
    • Guide you through the many options that advancements in medicine and technology have made possible
    • Answer your questions with clarity and compassion so you ultimately choose, and use, the right solution for you
    • Take the time to help you get used to your new technology and make adjustments as needed
    • Work with you during the transition as your brain adjusts to hearing and interpreting sounds again
    • Get you back in touch with people and help you experience life to the fullest!

Many hearing centers focus on selling specific products. Often you can end up with more than you really need. At E.A.R., our recommendations are based solely on the results of your hearing assessment and your individual needs. You may or may not need – or want – the most expensive or high-tech device. Some patients are best served with assistive listening devices, which are inexpensive ways to help hear the television or telephone. In some cases, patients are referred to another specialist or their primary care provider for treatment of medical conditions which may be contributing to their hearing loss. If a hearing aid is needed, we work to find the one that’s right for you, and ensure that it is properly programmed and fitted.
